Built by a registered manager, for people who provides care.
SmartCareApps comes from a care background, not from programmers who try to understand care and build something to cover every type of care, yet fail to meet service-specific needs
SmartCareApps started with a simple frustration. The big compliance jobs always get attention, because they have to. It's the small things — the audit that's a week late, the complaint that never got logged, the follow-up nobody owned — that quietly slip, and then turn up as findings at the next inspection.
Most software built for care is large, expensive, and aimed at all types of customer groups, but this big software always fails to meet customer-specific needs. As a result, care management is always trying to complete many different compliance tasks across different platforms. The care sector needs something smart, simple, specific, easy to use, efficient, and fully customisable for each customer.
So we made a small set of tools that each do one job well: audits and checks, a safeguarding log, compliments-concerns-and-complaints, and an action tracker that turns overdue jobs red so they stop falling behind the urgent ones. Every one is deliberately simple — quick to fill in, easy to hand to an inspector, clear at a glance.
What we believe
Built by someone from care background
Designed by a registered manager, around the day-to-day reality of running a care service — not by people who’ve never had an inspection.
Smart, Simple to use
It sits alongside your care-planning and eMAR systems — it doesn’t try to replace them — and it captures as little personal data as possible.
Inspection-ready evidence
Every record keeps a timestamped change history, so showing “well-led” is a matter of pressing export, not digging through folders.
GDPR Compliant
UK-hosted and encrypted, with nightly backups and role-based access, so the right people see the right things.
I have spent over 20 years in care, starting on the frontline and managing care services since 2012. I currently manage a large charity as a registered manager, supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism, physical disabilities, and other complex care needs. I built an app because I wanted something simple, efficient, and designed to work for my service. I viewed demos of many "NHS Assured" care software platforms, but they were not suitable for our organisation's needs. Many of these systems are too generic and do not meet practical requirements. I started building my own app, beginning with "Audits and Checks", then expanded it into eight different tools that I currently use at work. These apps gradually evolved into a smart "Compliance Framework". I shared some of these tools with colleagues who manage registered services, and they encouraged me to make them available to other registered managers because they believed they would genuinely help. This is how "Smart Care Apps" started its journey.
If you are a registered manager with similar experiences, please contact me to book a demo or send me an email, and I will get back to you. Please note that I check emails during evenings and weekends only, so please allow up to 24 hours for a response.
